You can only imagine.
It absolutely ticks me off when people don't say 'thank you', 'you're welcome' and other very basic one-off replies. It couldn't be that hard to say them, could it? This is basic courtesy; and if you can't be courteous, then you definitely don't deserve my respect.
I guess I could close one eye when it comes to trivial instances. Like when, the favour or deed is too small to be recognized and acknowledged. But when it comes to huge-ass favours that can cost me something (like time, effort, money), I would appreciate it if you'd at least thank me. Cause if you don't, I will seriously hate you for that.
Now don't start judging me and look at me the other way. I have very good reasons as to why I can't condone to such irreverence. Firstly, I am generally polite and courteous in nature. I am not trying to put myself in a higher position than anyone else or brag here, but I believe this is something I have which I could be proud of. If I treat you with proper respect and mannerism, I expect you to do likewise for me. So you can just imagine my exasperation when I say thank you, and I don't even get a decent reply like 'you're welcome', or when I do somebody a favour, and all I get is some Lady Gaga's 'poker face', or worse still some shitty face.
Secondly, people APPRECIATE you more when you are polite to them. And being nice does make you FEEL nice. It can even make your day.
Okay, I feel good already writing this post. Sorry, some bugger just ticked me off with his/her ungratefulness today.
